As a local community group we strive to hold engaging and meaningful events within our community. In June 2021, we held a new event called the Tara Art trails as part of Cruinniú na nÓg. This interactive event was supported by Creative Ireland in partnership with Wexford County Council and Gorey School of Art.
Set along the beautiful walking trails at Tara Hill, which play host to a wide range of heritage sites, biodiversity, and scenic views overlooking the Gorey district, two local artists Emme Roche and Paul Carter designed a series of engaging activities for children. The activities were broken into three categories: visual art, craft, and biodiversity. All three categories had an educational element, and offered a fun and creative way for the whole family to engage with their surroundings.
Once families collected their free art pack, they followed the walking trails, keeping an eye open for the many QR codes that were on display. When they scanned a QR code, they were brought to a web page containing all of the information and instructions needed to successfully complete that particular creative task. They repeated this step, engaging in 6 fun activities until they reached the end of the trail.
